2004 Acura TL – Affordable Luxury Ride

October 3, 2013

In 2004 Acura redesigned the TL and made the car better in every way compared to its predecessor.

The third generation Acura TL (2004 – 2008) is my favorite generation TL and I actually prefer it over the current version.

In 2007 Acura made minor revisions to the car with new headlights and taillights. They also added a Type-S model which was a sportier version of their already sporty car.

Transmission choices for the 04 model is either a 5-speed automatic or 6-speed manual.

Honda makes one of the best shifters in the market. So if you’re looking to buy a used TL I would strongly suggest getting the 6-speed manual.

You can buy these cars pretty cheap in the used car market today. Prices for an 04 model in good condition can be purchased for under 10K.

That’s a lot less than the sticker price of 32K when it was new.

The styling of the car has aged well and I’m really impressed how Honda has done a good job with the engineering and design of the TL.

Interior styling is among the best in its class. The 04 TL is one of the first cars to come standard with bluetooth technology.

The interior is very spacious and has more leg room than the BMW 3 Series and Infiniti G Series of the same model year.

Starting the engine you have that ear-pleasing Honda sound that everybody is so familiar with. I don’t know why Honda changed the starter sound of their newer models.

Power comes from a 3.2L 6-cylinder VTEC engine producing 270 horsepower.

The car accelerates with authority and the transmission is Honda smooth.

Though the car is based on the Honda Accord, the overall driving experience is akin to driving a Lexus or Infiniti.

It just has a more luxurious and premium feel than the Accord.

If you’re in the market for a used TL don’t be unnerved if the car has over 100K miles on the clock.

As long as it’s been properly maintained, 100K miles is nothing for a car that’s been engineered so well.

So if you’re looking for an affordable used luxury sedan then you definitely should check out the TL.
